Our objectives
EASL Congress 2027 has implemented various initiatives to make its congress more sustainable, with the following objectives in mind:
- Reducing the consumption of resources, giving preference to local resources when available, and encouraging reuse and recycling practices whenever feasible.
- Promoting sustainable practices and eco-friendly behaviours among all stakeholders involved in preparing the congress.
- Collaborating with suppliers, partners, and businesses that align with the congress’s sustainability goals, aiming for environmental, social, and economic benefits.
- Leaving a lasting sustainable legacy for the city of London.
People
- EASL is dedicated to excellence in liver research and education for all, breaking barriers of gender, ethnicity, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, socio-economic background or age.

Planet
EASL is committed to reducing the ecological footprint of our congress, and collaborates with ExCeL London to implement energy-efficient practices. At the congress we will:
- Provide delegates with the opportunity to offset their carbon emissions during registration.
- Manage food waste by distributing vouchers to members of press.
- Reduce printed materials.
- Set up recycling stations on-site.
- Display communication panels at the venue to encourage eco-friendly actions from delegates.
- Include a booking link for eco-friendly hotel options.
- Provide clean water through refill stations and offer reusable bottles to EASL Members.
- Recycle and upcycle event banners into useful objects — bags, lanyards, folders or decorative pieces — to be featured at EASL Congress 2028, rather than discarding them after use.
