Cyber security
easlcongress.eu is the only official website for EASL Congress. Everything else claiming to act on our behalf should be treated with suspicion.
Know the pattern
Large congresses attract organised fraud. These three are the common ones.
Fake hotel bookers
An agency emails or phones claiming to hold your Congress room, asks for card details to “guarantee” it, then disappears. EASL works with one official accommodation partner, reachable only through this site.
Attendee list sellers
Emails offering to sell you the delegate list, often quoting a plausible number of records. No such list exists for sale. EASL never shares or sells delegate data.
Registration impostors
A lookalike domain takes your registration fee and issues a worthless confirmation. Check the address bar reads easlcongress.eu before paying anything.
Before you pay or click
Check the domain, character by character
The only official Congress site is easlcongress.eu, and the association’s site is easl.eu. Fraudulent domains usually differ by one character, add a word such as “registration” or “expo”, or use a different suffix. Hover a link and read the real target before clicking.
Check the sender address, not the display name
Every genuine message from the Congress team comes from an @easloffice.eu address. A display name reading “EASL Congress” means nothing on its own — expand the header and read the actual address.
Be suspicious of urgency
“Your room will be released in two hours” and “final chance to confirm” are pressure tactics. Real deadlines are published on this site and never depend on an unsolicited phone call.
Never send card details by email or phone
Payment happens only inside the secure registration system. Nobody from EASL will ask you to read out a card number, and no genuine invoice asks for payment to a personal account.
Report anything that looks wrong
Forward the message, with full headers if you can, to easlcongress@easloffice.eu. Reports help us get fraudulent domains taken down faster, and they protect colleagues who may have received the same email.
Only these are us
If a service claims to represent EASL Congress and is not reachable through one of these, it does not represent EASL Congress.
