Visa application
Check the visa requirements and apply as soon as possible
We recommend applying for any required travel authorisation or visa as early as possible, as the application process can take time. Before making your travel arrangements, please check the latest UK entry requirements and immigration regulations.
Visa requirements depend on your nationality and country of residence. Citizens of most European countries do not require a visa for short business visits, such as attending the EASL Congress, but must obtain a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling. The ETA is a digital travel permission and must be approved prior to departure. Other nationalities may require a visa in addition to, or instead of, an ETA.
In the event of a visa or ETA refusal, EASL cannot be held responsible and is therefore unable to refund registration or accommodation fees.
You are strongly advised to determine whether you require a visa or an ETA to enter the United Kingdom as early as possible and, if required, submit your application without delay.
Please note that the United Kingdom is not part of the Schengen Area. A Schengen visa does not permit entry into the UK. Travellers who require permission to enter the UK must obtain the appropriate UK travel authorisation before travelling.
Further information on UK visa requirements, the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), and how to apply can be found on the official UK Government website: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa
Invitation letter for visa application
An invitation letter for visa application support from the EASL Congress 2027 registration system will be provided upon request during the registration process. This letter will be sent to the specified email address once registration is completed and payment is received. Participants are required to include this invitation letter along with all other necessary documents when applying for their visa.
Please be aware that the invitation letter does not imply any obligation on behalf of EASL to cover registration fees, accommodation, travel expenses, or any other costs associated with Congress participation.
In the event of a visa denial, EASL will reimburse the registration fee only upon receipt of the official refusal document from the embassy/consulate, provided that the visa application was submitted to the embassy in a timely manner and included all required documentation.
