At the end of May, Barcelona typically enjoys pleasant, warm, and mostly sunny weather, making it an ideal time to visit. Daytime temperatures usually range between 22 and 26°C (72–79°F), while the evenings remain mild, with lows around 15 to 18°C (59–64°F). The city sees plenty of sunshine and long daylight hours, although occasional brief showers or thunderstorms are possible. Humidity levels are generally moderate and rarely uncomfortable.
Please consult the website in April 2026 for the latest updates. After the EASL Congress 2026 concludes, please take a moment to complete a brief five-minute online survey. Following this, you can access your certificate through your registration account, which will be available starting from 30 May 2026.

All official prices are indicated in Euro (€). The official currency in Spain is Euro (EUR). All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants, and shops.

EASL recognises that individuals with disabilities may require the assistance of personal care attendants to fully participate in the Congress. Therefore, we will provide complimentary access to personal care attendants accompanying registered attendees with disabilities. Please inform the registration staff upon arrival at the Congress.

In Spain, the standard plugs are Type C and Type F, with a voltage of 230V and frequency of 50Hz. If you’re traveling from a country that uses different plug types or voltage standards, you may need a plug adapter and possibly a voltage converter.
By submitting an abstract to the EASL Congress, you agree to abide by this embargo policy. The policy states that authors, presenters and/or their sponsors may not share data or key results from the abstract in any form (print, broadcast or online publication, media release or conference presentation) until this embargo is lifted. Authors, presenters and/or their sponsors may, however, publicise the fact that their abstract has been selected for inclusion in the congress programme before the abstract is officially released. In this context, they may publish the title of their abstract together with the names of the authors and institutions.
Embargos according to the category of submission
A detailed breakdown of the embargo policies for different types of abstracts is available below. All congress delegates, presenters, industry employees, sponsors, and media agree to respect this policy when submitting their abstracts or registering for the event.
- Accepted abstracts selected for the following sessions should not be disclosed before the start of EASL Congress 2025 at 8:00 CET on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 (the opening day of the congress). Authors will be informed during the abstract notification process if their abstract has been selected for one of these sessions.
- General Session I
- General Session II
- Late-breaker Session
- EASL Congress Late-breaker abstracts (poster presentations only): Data from abstracts submitted during the late-breaker submission period and which have been selected for poster presentation may not be disclosed before the start of EASL Congress 2025 at 8:00 CET on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 (the opening day of the congress).
2. Accepted abstracts selected for the following sessions should not be disclosed before 8:00 CET on Wednesday, 13 May 2026 (i.e. two weeks before the start of the congress).
- Oral sessions (excluding General Session I, General Session II, Late-breaker Session, or pre-selected abstracts for potential inclusion in an EASL Congress press release)
- Poster sessions (excluding pre-selected abstracts for potential inclusion in an EASL Congress press release and late-breaker)
Note: All pre-recorded presentations may not be disclosed before the start time of their presentation in the official programme. Posters, ePosters and ePoster videos may not be disclosed before 8:00 CET on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 (the first day of the event).
Embargo breaks
Examples of breaking the embargo include publishing data from the abstract in a journal or via a public outlet before the abstract is presented at the congress. Violation of the embargo policy above will be taken seriously. Individuals and/or sponsors who violate it may face sanctions relating to current and future abstract submissions, presentations, and visibility at EASL events. The EASL Governing Board is at liberty to ban attendance and/or retract data.

There are various restaurants in the congress centre offering different food options.
Lunch and coffee are not included in the registration fee. Water dispensers are located at numerous places throughout the venue.
The official language of the congress is English. Simultaneous translations will not be provided.

Meet-the-expert sessions will be live-streamed and can also be accessed on-demand. Overflow arrangements will be made at the Track Hubs situated in Hall 7. Skills learning centres & Workshops will only be available in person.
In the event that a child accompanies their parent to the conference, it is essential that they remain under the direct supervision of their parents and do not venture beyond the designated registration area. EASL Congress will offer professional childcare services for our delegates. Please consult this page.
The Interview Rooms and the Press Centre are located on the first floor, on the corridor to access Hall 7 (Exhibition), Tibidabo suite. Access is restricted to Media and Press representatives.

Print-at-Home Badge Instructions
- Badges will be sent by email from easlcongress.registration@easloffice.eu 1 week prior the Congress.
- Download your Badge: Open the PDF file attached to thie email.
- Print your Badge on white A4 paper in colour, using standard print settings. Make sure it’s printed at 100% size (do not scale to fit).
- Fold your Badge in 4.
- Bring it with you: Insert the folded badge into the plastic badge holder you’ll receive onsite. Don’t forget to bring it with you to Amsterdam!
Important: Digital badges on mobile devices are not accepted for entry. Badges are personal, individual, and non-transferable.
Please always wear your badge to ensure access! Also, do not forget to scan your badge each day when entering and leaving the congress venue, this is essential for your certificate of attendance and CME credits.

EASL Congress 2026 is a non-smoking event.
In Spain, the standard time is Central European Time (CET; UTC+01:00).
It is recommended to apply as early as possible for a visa as the application process can be time consuming. Before applying for your visa, please check the latest information on entry regulations for Spain. In case of visa rejection, EASL cannot be held responsible and therefore cannot refund any registration and accommodation fees. You are strongly advised to find out if you need a visa to enter Spain as early as possible, and should a visa be required, to apply as soon as possible.
Please be aware that the invitation letter does not imply any obligation on behalf of EASL to cover registration fees, accommodation, travel expenses, or any other costs associated with Congress participation.
In the event of a visa denial, EASL will reimburse the registration fee only upon receipt of the official refusal document from the embassy/consulate, provided that the visa application was submitted to the embassy in a timely manner and included all required documentation.
Free internet access in the venue is provided by EASL.
